MORE DETAILS

  • Dalmatia: Located along the Adriatic Sea, Dalmatia is a coastal region known for its beautiful beaches, historic cities, and islands. This region is renowned for producing robust red wines, such as Plavac Mali, as well as crisp white wines like Posip.

  • Istria: Situated in the northwest of Croatia, Istria is known for its picturesque landscapes, including rolling hills and coastal areas. The region produces a variety of wines, with notable white wines made from Malvazija and red wines from Teran.

  • Slavonia: In the eastern part of Croatia, Slavonia is characterized by its plains and rivers. This region is known for its continental climate, and it is a significant area for the production of white wines, particularly Grasevina, which is one of Croatia’s most widely planted grape varieties.

  • Central Croatia: This region includes the capital city, Zagreb, and the surrounding areas. Nestled amidst the rolling hills and landscapes of Central Croatia lies a burgeoning wine region that captivates with its unique terroir and world class sparkling wines.

The wineries in Central Croatia often benefit from the hilly landscapes and continental climate, which can be conducive to grape cultivation and production of sparkling wines. There has been a growing interest in local grape varieties and the production of quality wines.

*These regions contribute to the diversity of Croatian wines, showcasing a range of climates, soils, and grape varieties. Each region has its own winemaking traditions and styles, making Croatian wines distinctive and intriguing for wine enthusiasts.

Day 1:

Pick up at your accommodation in Split. The first stop is next to the city of Sibenik, where you will visit a winery for wine tasting and lunch. Following the blue turquoise sea, we will arrive on the island of Pag in the evening at the estate of one of the best Croatian winemakers. Here, you will have dinner paired with wine and an overnight stay in a chateau or a 4+ star hotel.

Day 2:

In the morning, after breakfast, we will head towards Istria, which is often called the Croatian Tuscany. In the afternoon, we will visit the first winemaker for lunch accompanied by his wine directly in the winery. Following the road that passes between hills planted with vineyards, olive groves, and forests full of truffles, we will arrive in the picturesque town of Motovun before evening. Below the hill on which the medieval fortress rests, we have an organized dinner paired with wine in a modern new winery with a beautiful view. Accommodation after dinner in a 4+ star hotel.

Day 3:

We will depart from Istria in the morning after breakfast towards one of the oldest wine roads in Croatia, where you will have the opportunity to see vineyards that look like amphitheatres. You will have lunch and taste some of the best Croatian sparkling wine and other premium wines. After lunch, we will travel towards the hinterland of the capital of Croatia, Zagreb. We will visit the most important biodynamic winemaker, whose winery is located on the top of a hill with a fantastic view. The dinner is served in courses and wines are served with each dish, providing a superb gastronomic pleasure as you have experienced in the past two days. Accommodation is most likely in the chateau itself if you book on time, or optionally in a 4+ star hotel.

Day 4:

Enjoy a rich breakfast with a view of the vineyards before heading towards the fourth and last wine region. Traveling along the endless plains and fertile fields, you will see a completely different Croatia than what we have seen for the past three days. We will have lunch and the opportunity to taste wines in one of the most modern equipped private wineries in Croatia, and I would dare to say in Europe. After lunch, we will continue to the east and arrive for dinner at one of the largest Croatian wineries. After indulging in so much good food and wonderful wines, we have a place to stay in a 4+ star hotel.

Day 5:

Following a trip through the entire state, enjoy a late breakfast and a good rest before leaving for Zagreb, where you have the option to stay, explore the city, and fly home, as there are more direct flights available. Alternatively, you are welcome to head with me to Split, where we will arrive before dinner.”
